Who is Frank?
Frank is the proud father of Anouk (3) and Eva (1) and husband to Linda. He enjoys life and loves cycling both watching and doing it himself and a burgundian lifestyle: think barbecues, fine wines, specialty beers, and good company. His taste in music? From jazz from the 1950’s to the heavy beats of the 1990’s and everything in between. Holidays? Preferably in the mountains, summer and winter, although that remains a challenging undertaking with two young children.
SUPERP and Frank: a success story
Frank started at SUPERP with little (±15 months) experience in IT. He progressed through various roles and spent the last five years focusing on (API) test automation in a high-coding environment. Since January 1 2025, he has been part of the integration team within the development unit.
His SUPERP power? Humor!
Humor. When applied correctly. Humor can lighten the mood, break the ice, shift attention, and turn a frown upside down. 🙂 It’s a trainable superpower: The first few times, you might make a mistake, and you have to learn to feel it out and use it in the right measure. That also makes humor a dangerous SUPERP power. As Uncle Ben said to Peter Parker: ‘With great power comes great responsibility’. Or, for us IT professionals: The sudo warning also applies to humor.”
What superpower does he still want to develop?
I would like to get rid of my fear of heights, so flying. Flying, yes, that seems like a fun SUPERP power to me.
Outside of work: hobbies and guilty pleasures
According to his wife Linda, Frank has the patience of a saint. His colleagues and friends often tell him that he is a walking encyclopedia of useless facts, which comes in handy at pub quizzes and games such as Hitster and 30 Seconds. One of his technical hobby projects? Building a wine climate cabinet based on a built-in refrigerator with an external thermostat, combined with a Philips Hue temperature sensor and a UI5 application that he hosts locally on his home lab, with notifications for door-open-door-close events as the icing on the cake. “Okay, this is going a bit far.”
His guilty pleasure? “The entire Das Beste vom Besten playlist and a Quarter Pounder from McDonald’s in the middle of the night (although there has to be a very good reason to wake me up).”
What makes working at SUPERP unique?
I have been working at SUPERP for quite a few years now, and when you have been in a position for that long, you become part of the culture. It’s difficult to pinpoint or describe in detail, but I’ll give it a try: From my perspective, it’s the transparency we strive for (the door is always open), plus our commitment to knowledge: Leading the way by not only being good at what you know, but also being able to use the tools of tomorrow. Together, we have created a culture where ‘anything is possible, with a plan’. An example: When, after 10 years, I wanted to do something other than testing, I took the time to figure out what it was I wanted to do. After some (accessible) coaching, a clear path emerged, and with it a plan with enough room for adjustments if necessary. What also makes SUPERP unique is that you are never alone, discovering and sharing new things with like-minded people, but also asking specialists in certain topics for help if you get stuck, so you can really fall back on your colleagues. I find that really valuable.”
Frank’s motto in life
That varies depending on the period, but here are a few classics:
• Hold my beer (during a challenge)
• No pain, no gain (during a challenge)
• Work hard, play harder (work-life balance)
Who will be the next SUPERP employee of the month?
Frank passes the baton to Niels Pols.
Thank you, Frank, for your enthusiasm, your humor, and your contribution to SUPERP!
