SUPERP invests in political skills: Project & Politics training scores 9.5

Vicencia in den Bosch

How do you ensure that stakeholders embrace your project? Four SUPERP consultants took the Project & Politics training course and learned techniques that they immediately put into practice.

Politics in projects: not a dirty word

Projects are not just about technology. They are about people. Stakeholders with different interests. Teams that need to embrace change. And you, as a consultant, are right in the middle of it all.

Recently, five colleagues took part in the Project & Politics training course. The aim was to learn how to use politics consciously to make projects succeed.

What did the participants learn?

The training provided concrete insights:

  • Stakeholder analysis that works – Who has influence? Who do you need to get on board? Participants learned to look at the real impact of stakeholders on project results.
  • Techniques for getting people on board – How do you ensure that people embrace change? Which communication techniques work?
  • Practical tools – The relationship analysis and the want/can/must ladder proved to be directly applicable instruments.

One participant summed it up well:

“I liked it because it clearly demonstrated the potential impact on the outcome of the project.”

Apply directly in practice

The best thing about the training? The participants immediately applied the theory to their own projects and challenges.

“I can use all the various techniques. It’s mainly a matter of finding out in practice what works best for me.”

Another learned to focus primarily on the needs of others. And enjoyed seeing how you can get people to embrace change.

Trainer Jessica Hoek scores highly

The training was provided by Jessica Hoek. What did the participants appreciate about her approach?

  • Open and friendly, with clear explanations
  • Listens carefully to questions from the group
  • Provides concrete advice for practical problems
  • Knows the organization and the field

“Jessica has a calmness about her that I found very pleasant.”

Grade: average of 9.5

The participants gave the training an average rating of 9.5. One participant even gave it a perfect 10.
