The story of Thijs

Vicencia in den Bosch

Sometimes you have to leave to discover where you truly belong. That was the case for Thijs Cornet: he left, but returned to SUPERP. Read his story about why the warmth, craftsmanship, and unique culture brought him back home.

Back from abroad: Thijs Cornet on his choice for SUPERP

Sometimes you have to leave to discover where you truly belong. That was certainly true for Thijs Cornet, Recruitment Business Partner at SUPERP. He previously worked with us in the same role and moved on after a few years. But eventually he returned, this time with a team under his wing.

Why I left at the time

“During my first period at SUPERP, I encountered the limitations of our internal organization. Entrepreneurship and freedom are deeply ingrained in our DNA. That makes SUPERP strong, but at the time, it conflicted with my desire to structure recruitment more and further centralize processes.”

      What I missed

“What I immediately missed after leaving was the warmth and personal approach within SUPERP. We are a flat organization in which everyone is involved, not only in the bigger picture, but also genuinely with each other as individuals. That is quite unique in our world, and I quickly realized that I couldn’t find that anywhere else in the same way.”

      Why I returned

“Ultimately, I realized that SUPERP’s idiosyncrasy and entrepreneurial spirit are also part of its charm and strength. What’s more, there was a huge challenge to further professionalize and expand recruitment. That made it attractive to return, knowing that the organization was also aware of the need to take those steps.”

What makes working at SUPERP special

“The shared DNA. We are all a little stubborn, true professionals, and always looking for the best solution. My colleagues do this by building the best IT systems and applications for our clients. I do this by ensuring an optimal candidate experience and transparent conversations with candidates every day. Together, we work from the same conviction and energy.”

      Pride and cooperation

“In my second term, I am most proud of the growth of my team. I experience the collaboration with colleagues as open, honest, and transparent. That means you can switch gears quickly, but also always know where you stand.”

      A tip for future colleagues

“Be sure to engage in conversation. Ask questions, be critical, and be curious. Chances are that, like me, you’ll be driving home with a smile on your face after your first meeting.”

Why I feel at home at SUPERP

“At SUPERP, you are valued for your knowledge, skills, and personality in complete freedom. That makes me feel at home here.”
